Dining on ‘Cue
Barbecue is King in Atlanta
By Jane Garvey

On a recent chilly Saturday afternoon, folks gathered at the corner of Highway 124 (Scenic Highway) and Everson Road, near Snellville in suburban Gwinnett County.

Jimmy’s Smokehouse Barbecue is in business on the corner every Friday and Saturday.

Customers of all kinds come in for the ‘cue. They hop and shake in the bright cold munching as they quiver. No chairs or tables are  provided. There are no waiters. There’s no alcohol served.

Supplied with plastic cutlery, you find your way back to the car, if the weather is cold, or in good weather, sit on the ground.

My own  favorite is butt, or roast, which sells for $5.25 a pound, sauce included (hot is my choice). Get a side dish of unusual potato casserole and homemade coleslaw. You’ll be dining with the gods.
